5) Main chain A standard main chain is formed by connecting N to C of C=O peptide bond portions repeatedly and placing oxygen of C=O alternately on a plane. Prepare about 10 to 20 units of the main chains in equal quantities. To avoid missing their order, stick Number Labels (Bio-304) on the Number Plates (Bio-302) and insert the Number Plates in place of hydrogen or alpha carbon before attaching the main chains to your model. Be careful of the order NH-CA-CO, NH-CA-CO,since the residues are numbered in order from N-end. At the same time, if the order of hydrogen bonds is known to you, exchange oxygen and hydrogen for those for hydrogen bonds respectively. This exchange, if done after the model is assembled, may hinder the model being completed. |
